Vezni igrač Newcastle Uniteda Isaac Hayden završio je sezonu zbog povrede kolena.

Naime, na gostovanju u Brightonu, igrač domaćih Bissouma mu je nehotice celim telom pao na koleno leve noge.

Srećom, Hayden neće morati na operaciju.

Golovima Trossarda, Welbecka i Maupaya, Brighton je na svom Amex stadionu lako pobedio Newcastle United rezultatom 3:0. Svrake su imale jednu priliku, kada je Fraser pri rezultatu 1:0 za Galebove pogodio stativu protivničkog gola.

Prvo poluvreme potpuno u znaku Galebova. Već od starta su domaći igrači dominirali terenom i stvarali šansu za šansom. U prva tri minuta utakmice, levi bek domaćih Moder je dva puta mogao da savlada Dubravku, ali u tome nije uspeo.

U 38. minutu utakmice Maupay šutira sa pet metara, ali njegov udarac na metar od gol-linije izblokirao je defanzivac Svraka Clark.

Momenat koji je odlučio meč je teška povreda Haydena kojem je Bissouma nehotice pao na nogu u 45. minutu utakmice. Hayden je na nosilima iznesen sa terena, dok je umesto njega u igru ušao Hendrick.

Samo minut posle ulaska u igru Hendricka ekipa Newcastle Uniteda prima gol. Igrao se treći minut sudijske nadoknade kada je Leandro Trossard leđima okrenut protivničkom golu primio jednu dugu loptu. Trossard je uspeo da se okrene, stvori sebi priliku za udarac, što je i učinio felš udarcem desnom nogom sa preko dvadeset metara, pogodio donji levi ugao Dubravkinog gola za 1:0. Zasluženo.

U nastavku igre prvu priliku za gol imao je Newcasle United u 49. minutu utakmice kada je Ryan Fraser iskosa sa levog boka šutirao desnom nogom, ali njegov udarac završava na levoj stativi gola golmana domaćih Sancheza i šansa odlazi u nepovrat.

Već u sledećem napadu Brighton stiže do 2:0. Loptu je na levom boku dobio Danny Welbeck koji se lenjo približavao protivničkom šesnaestercu. Usledilo je Welbeckovo nameštanje za udarac desnom nogom, što je Danny i učinio pogodivši donji levi ugao Dubravkinog gola za 2:0, minut 51. Dubravka i Manquillo su mogli i bolje u ovoj situaciji.

U 68. minutu utakmice Neil Maupay na centaršut sa levog boka od strane Grossa volejom desnom nogom sa desetak metara postiže konačan rezultat 3:0. Game Over.

Do kraja meča, tačnije u 83. minutu utakmice Dubravka je odbranio vrlo dobar Welbeckov udarac sa desetak metara desnom nogom.

Svakim novim danom Stevea Bruca na klupi Newcastle Uniteda naš klub je bliži ispadanju iz Premier League. Imao je Mike Ashley priliku da ga smeni ali to nije uradio i lično mislim da će ovo Ashleyevo kockanje sa Bruceom biti njegovo najgore kockanje u svakom smislu.

Igrači dole na terenu su pokazali da su se predali. Više ne žele Brucea za trenera, ali Ashley je tvrdoglav. Ne želi da ga smeni. To će ga koštati finansijski. Kada ispadnemo u Championship, neće biti Chrisa Hughtona i Rafaela Beniteza da nas odmah vrate u Premier League. Tavorićemo u nižim ligama dok se klub ne proda. Međutim, u Championshipu na bogate Saudijce i PIF slobdono možemo da zaboravimo.

Posle 29 kola imamo dva boda više i utakmicu manje od Fulhama koji je prvi ispod crte. Po svemu sudeći Newcastle United i Fulham će se boriti koji će od ta dva kluba biti putnik za niži rang takmičenja. Sudeći po formi, svi znamo odgovor na to pitanje.

NEWCASTLE UNITED  -  ASTON VILLA  1 : 1

Kapiten Newcastle Uniteda Jamaal Lascelles je golom glavom sa pet metara duboko u sudijskoj nadoknadi drugog poluvremena doneo svom timu važan bod za opstanak i postavio konačan rezultat 1:1.

Prethodno je Aston Villa povela 0:1 nesretnim autogolom Ciarana Clarka u 86. minutu utakmice. Clarka je lopta pogodila u koleno posle udarca glavom Ollia Watkinsa.

U prvom poluvremenu nije viđen dopadljiv fudbal. Prvu priliku na meču imao je Ryan Fraser u 5. minutu utakmice, kada je sa dvadesetak metara testirao gostujućeg čuvara mreže Martineza.

U 14. minutu utakmice Joelinton je sa desnog boka ušao u gostujući šesnaesterac i umesto da proigra svoje saigrače, on se odlučio na udarac koji mu je izblokiran.

Sa druge strane u 23. minutu utakmice, rezervista Aston Ville El-Ghazi je oprobao udarac sa distance ali Dubravka brani udarac. Pet minuta kasnije i Trezeguet lepim udarcem sa desetak metara iskosa sa desnog boka preti Dubravki, ali ovaj i to brani.

U nastavku igre Ezri Konsa u 53. minutu igre glavom preti sa desetak metara, ali lopta prolazi pored desne stative Dubravkinog gola.

U 79. minutu utakmice umesto solidnog Ryana Frasera u igru je ušao Jacob Murphy. Upravo je  Murphy posle samo tri minuta provedenih na terenu udarcem sa desetak metara desnom nogom pogodio prečku gostujućeg gola.

U 85. minutu Ollie Watkins je pretio Dubravki gotovo iz mrtvog ugla ali Dubravka izlazi kao pobednik.

Međutim, u sledećem napadu na centaršut sa levog boka od strane Targetta, snalažljivi Ollie Watkins glavom sa osam metara upućuje udarac ka golu domaćih. Međutim, lopta na svom putu pogađa u koleno defanzivca Newcastle Uniteda Ciarana Clarka i od prečke završava u golu domaćih za 0:1, minut 86. Fudbal je okrutna igra.

U 93. minutu igre Ollie Watkins je mogao da reši pitanje pobednika udarcem sa osam metara desnom nogom, ali Dubravka herojski brani udarac.

Ostalo je vremena za još jedan napad Newcastle Uniteda. Shelvey je centaršutem sa četrdeset metara poslao loptu u gostujući šesnaesterac ali ona preleće sve igrače i dolazi do Murphya koji se nalazio na levom boku. Usledio je precizan centaršut na gostujući peterac gde je najviši u skoku bio Jamaal Lascelles, koji glavom smešta loptu u gostujuću mrežu za konačnih 1:1 u 94. minutu utakmice.

Možda će ovaj gol i ovaj bod doneti opstanak Newcastle Unitedu.

Aston Villa bez Jacka Grealisha nije tim koji uliva strah protivnicima, što se dokazalo i večeras. Ne kažem, nije Villa loše igrala i da su bili malo precizniji, mogli su odneti sva tri boda sa St James' Parka ali su Svrake ipak bile bliže golu pre vodećeg gostujućeg gola koji je takođe postignut srećno.

Sa duge strane, Newcastle United da ima ubitačnog napadača pored povređenog Wilsona davno bi obezbedio opstanak u Premier League. Večeras je Joelinton upropastio tri-četiri dobre prilike.

Posle 28 kola imamo isto toliko bodova, odnosno dva boda više od Fulhama koji je prvi ispod crte i bod manjei utakmicu od Brightona koji je iznad nas na tabeli Premier League.

Naš sledeći protivnik je upravo Brighton (ostvario trijumf u ovom kolu) sa kojim igramo sledeće subote. Možda će nam za opstanak trebati još dve pobede i dva remija? Videćemo, ima još deset kola da se odigra.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION  -  NEWCASTLE UNITED  0 : 0

U predgrađu Birminghama, na stadionu Hawthorns West Bromwich Albion i Newcastle United remizirali su rezultatom 0:0. Oba tima su bukvalno igrala da ne izgube i po prikazanoj igri, vrlo lako bi oba tima mogla sledeće sezone da igraju jedan protiv drugog ali u nižem rangu takmičenja.

U prvom delu prvog poluvremena Newcastle United je bio bolji rival stvorivši dva brza kontranapada. U prvom kontranapadu Ryan Fraser sa levog boka nije uspeo da proturi loptu do Joelintona, dok u drugom kontranapadu Joelinton sa desnog boka nije uspeo da proturi loptu do Frasera koji je bio usamljen na desetak metara od protivničkog gola.

Između te dve poluprilike Emil Krafth je udarcem sa distance testirao budnost golmana WBA Johnstona.

U dvadesetom minutu igre WBA preti preko Pereire koji je šutirao levom nogom sa dvanaest metara ali Dubravka mu brani udarac. Osam minuta kasnije snažni Diagne sa četiri metra šutira preko gostujućeg gola.

Posle pola sata igre, Fraser je izveo korner sa desnog boka, dodavši loptu po zemlji do Shelveya, koji je uputio udarac ka golu domaćih. Lopta na svom putu kači jednog igrača WBA i golman domaćih Johnston refleksno rukom brani uradac.

Desetak minuta pre kraja prvog poluvremena Diagne glavom sa dvanaest metara upućuje udarac ka gostujućem golu, ali Dubravka loptu izbacuje u korner.

U nastavku igre WBA prvi preti u 55. minutu igre kada je Phillips udarcem sa sedam metara levom nogom prebacio gostujući gol.

Posle sat vremena mladi Joe Wilock preti udarcem desnom nogom sa desetak metara iskosa sa desnog boka, ali golman domaćih Johnston je danas bio na visini zadatka. U 70 minutu igre i Joelinton udarcem levom nogom sa desetak metara pokušava da savlada Johnstona ali ni on u tome nije uspeo.

Do kraja meča nije bilo prilika niti za jedan tim.

Uprkos osvojenom bodu Fulham je na gostovanju pobedio Liverpool i tako nam se približio na samo jedan bod. Fulham ima i utakmicu više od nas ali se sada između Fulhama i nas nalazi ekipa Brightona. Mi smo trenutno na 16. mestu na tabeli Premier League.

Sledeću utakmicu igramo već u petak na našem St James' Parku protiv odlične Aston Ville. Ne znam kako ćemo postići gol kad su nam povređeni Wilson, Saint-Maximin i Almiron.

Club update on a High Court judgement

Today the High Court handed down judgment in NUFC’s application to have the Chairman of the Arbitration Panel under the Premier League’s (‘EPL’) Rules removed from hearing its claim concerning the proposed takeover of the Club. The Club asked for the Chairman to be removed on the ground of apparent bias.

The Club made the application because two weeks after the Chairman had been appointed the lawyers representing the Premier League, Bird & Bird, disclosed information that the Club had previously been unaware of. In particular, Bird & Bird disclosed that the Chairman had provided confidential advice to the EPL in 2017.

Although the advice was not provided to the Club, the Club was informed that the Chairman had advised the EPL on amendments to its ‘Owners and Directors Test’ (‘OADT’) in Section F of its Rules. Shortly after the Chairman provided that advice in 2017 the Rules were changed to prevent a foreign owner involved in alleged broadcasting piracy from passing the test.

This information concerned the Club given the following context: in a much publicised letter to EPL clubs in April 2020, BeIN Sports called for the EPL to “strictly apply” the OADT to prevent the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, PIF, from being involved in the takeover of the Club because BeIN alleged that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (‘the KSA’) was involved in broadcasting piracy. Later that year, the EPL decided that the KSA controlled the PIF and was therefore a ‘Director’ under its Rules. The Club disputes this analysis and brought an arbitration to reverse the decision. As today’s Judgment records, the Club’s case is that the arbitration is wider than simply the definition of ‘Director’ and part of the Club’s challenge is to the lawfulness of the EPL’s approach when considering the takeover.

The Chairman had also failed to disclose, when he was appointed, that he had previously been appointed by Bird & Bird and, in the last 3 years, had been an arbitrator in 12 cases involving Bird & Bird. When challenged by the Club, prior to the High Court claim, the Chairman did not agree to step down. The Club’s concerns were heightened when he then engaged in unilateral communications with Bird & Bird about the Club’s challenge, which is expressly against the EPL arbitration rules. In his private emails with the EPL’s lawyers he asked if they wanted him to carry on as Chairman, and he later explained that if they had asked him to step down he would have done so. The private email exchange was only disclosed after Bird & Bird suggested it should be.

Although the Court was critical of these communications, describing them as an “error of judgment” the Court refused the Club’s application to remove the Chairman on grounds of apparent bias.

The Club is disappointed with the Court’s judgment on this issue. As noted at the end of the Judgment, the Club submitted that the Judge did not address all of the Club’s arguments. The Club is committed to the speedy and fair determination of its claim so that the proposed takeover can go ahead as soon as possible. However, it felt it had to make this application given the need for the dispute to be determined by way of a fair process. The Club is considering whether or not to pursue an appeal.

The Club argued for the hearing to be in public but lost on that argument. The Club also wanted the Judgment to be published, even though it was dissatisfied with the outcome. Meanwhile, the EPL attempted to prevent it from being published at all. The EPL said that if it was published it should be heavily redacted and anonymised so that readers would not be able to identify the dispute. Unfortunately, this is consistent with the EPL’s lack of transparency over the takeover. The Club won on this point. The Judge rejected the EPL’s arguments and said there was a “public interest” in publication of the Judgment. The Club welcomes the fact that at least its supporters, and the wider public interested in the takeover and the dispute, will now be able to have some information about the process.

The Club shall continue to actively pursue its claim in the arbitration and calls on the EPL to resolve the matter in a speedy and transparent way that does not prevent the substantial investment into English football, and the North East region, that the proposed takeover would bring.
